The Devonshire is Vispring's entry point into the hand-crafted range, built entirely on British wool across three distinct layers that work from surface to core to deliver comfort and resilience. The ticking is woven from wool and viscose, a pairing that keeps the cover soft against the skin while the viscose adds durability to a fabric subjected to decades of use. Beneath it, a layer of hand-teased Devonshire fleece wool provides immediate give, encouraging airflow to moderate temperature through the night rather than trapping it. A further layer of British fleece wool underneath adds depth and resilience so the surface does not compress unevenly over time.
The spring system features a single tier of 1,716 hand-nested, calico-pocketed Vanadium steel coils in a King size, each coil in its own calico pocket to respond to weight independently for harmonious support. Vanadium steel maintains tension longer than standard carbon steel, which is why Vispring uses it across the range. Available in Soft, Medium, Firm, and Extra Firm tensions, the Devonshire can be split across the centre on King sizes to suit partners with different preferences. Two rows of hand side-stitching secure the border coils to the mattress edge for a firm, consistent sleeping surface, while hand-tufting with felt washers anchors fillings in place to prevent lateral shift over years of use.
